Freedom 20s win 8-1

The Washington Freedom Super 20s won their first game of the 2010 season 8-1 over the Maryland Rush. Em was the captain, started and player the entire game at center back. She was her usual amazing self. Very calm and relaxed and made some good probing passes forward to the midfielders. The score at the half was 2-1 Freedom but the 2nd half was all the Freedom. The girls have not yet practiced together and looked very comfortable and worked well as a team.

Freedom win quarterfinal match 3-0

The BSC Freedom won their quarterfinal State Cup match 3-0 over the ASA Blast 3-0 yesterday on the hottest day of 2010 by far. The girls clearly outplayed their opponents in every aspect of the game. We had a nearly full roster of 17 players, but several key players remained in for the majority of the game. Emily played 80 of the 90 minutes and was thankful for the rest! She looked very good, calm and steady as normal. She played in back with Erika Martin who plays very similarly to Em, so together they are a joy to watch.

Freedom win in a blow out 9-0

The Freedom won their league game this past Sunday 9-0 against the SYC Patriots. Everyone and their brothers scored! I was not at the game, but Sally tells me the girls played very well and the other team just wasn't there...

Freedom Scrimmage MD Pride

The girls scrimmaged a local Semi-Pro team last night and after 90 minutes came up short in a 2-0 loss. The girls looked amazing and help their own against a team of very experienced older players.

WAGS Season Begins

The BSC Freedom went 90 minutes to a 0-0 in their opening game versus the MSC Arsenal. The team had some difficulties putting the ball into the back of the net. We had about 6 quality shots, with three of them just missing or the Arsenal keeper making a spectacular save. A good base to build on as the season progresses. "At least now we know what we have to work on," says forward Pam Vranis.

Freedom tie game three 1-1.

The BSC Freedom eked out a tie 1-1 with the 8th ranked team in the nation, the VISTA Shockwave. The Shockwave opened the scoring with a great shot that just squeaked by keeper Rachel Lewis. The Freedom came back late in the first half on a cracker of shot by Ele Margelos, that just flew by the VISTA keeper who had absolutely no chance at all of the save.

Freddom tie 2-2 in game 2

The freedom came back from 2-0 down to tie 2-2 in game two of the Jefferson Cup. They played a great game against a 3 time New York West State Cup finalist. The team from Syracuse has been in their state cup finals three years in a row, winning in '08 and '09. Great job girls!
