Lightning struggle at Region 1 Championships in WV

The Lightning played two very tough teams at the Region 1 Championships in Barbersville, WV. The trip was full of lifelong memories, including a full fledged opening ceremony with teams marching out into the stadium at Marshall University. The Lightning lost their first game 2-1. After scoring first, the girls fell victim to some suspect officiating and some "non" calls against the other team and some bad calls and yellow cards for our girls. The second game also was lost by the score of 2-1 against a long ball playing team from NH. Seacoast United jumped out to an early 2-0 after dropping two long balls in and as Sally says "Their rabbits ran onto the passes and scored." The team regrouped and managed to score a goal, but were unable to net another. A tremendous amount of rainfall on July the 4th prompted tournament officials to cancel all unnecessary games in order to complete those games needed to determine the group winners.
